I completely cosign! Carl was your angel. God will get the message across by hook or by crook, or by a candidate you're charged with convincing to join the team!

A while ago, I read about the etymology of the word "passion". While the modern meaning of the word is deep excitement, longing and love, the etymology of the word tells a different story. Passion comes from the latin word "passio" which means suffering, enduring. And that's understanding that, makes more sense when you hear "the passion of Christ" which is then understood as purposeful suffering. Accepting to endure what you know you came here to do. Combining this with what I've just read from you Maya, I'm grateful. Because you've given language to what I meant when I say I'm pursuing my passion.

I am looking for the problem that is mine to solve. Because I know I can endure, but I've often done it in the wrong place, for the wrong reason. I want my passion.

"I have to know that this is my problem to solve". Omg???? I have nothing else to say

"Is this my problem to solve" is such an elegant, laser sharp way to make a decision about work. Thank you for sharing!

Where is the care button. Maya, thanks again for this incredible piece, it hit me to the core. So often we (I) post things on social media that are so far from the truth and I strongly believe it's whar we want the greater audience to hear/see or have this false image of us. Are we really happy, are we really thriving? Why is it that we are conditioned to not tell the truth or to be completely vulnerable. I believe society is NOT ready for the truth..to quote one of my favorite Jack Nicholson line...you want the truth...you can't handle the truth.

I have been in this weird space of unemployment, constantly updating my LinkedIn profile and resume to fit in this unattainable box that the world of unemployment has put us in. Truly at the core, I just need to make an impact in my next role, but this false narrative just makes it so unattainable.

Thank you Maya for this soul searching piece as I navigate my next step on how I can make my next step in my professional career of project/program management.

Take good care!

Language: "i didn’t have language for what i was feeling—just a quiet, unfamiliar pull toward something I couldn’t yet trust." ..."i had never heard someone articulate a feeling I didn’t even know i’d been searching for language for." I cannot tell you how many times since 2020 that I've used a variation of the phrase around needing language to describe what I'm feeling!!! This is an era that we're going to be talking about for decades to come and one way we will describe it is by saying something to the effect of "we were finding our way through a language we had to create." Your work is shining proof of that. I also hope you talk to yourself nice (saying this to me too)--as someone who has also been described as the truthteller. I had to grow into being a truth teller because that was the difference between me (and my younger coworkers) surviving and not. I'm still the "truthteller" for the day job...sigh...Keep going Maya and Kevin!!!

Maya! The layers you pull back to express such a thin line of experience. Thank you.
